Tables Groups are our church’s form of ‘small groups’. These groups are at the heart of what it means to be the Church. We are a mixing of people throughout Craig County dedicated to fellowship with other believers(Hebrews 10) and all in the name of Jesus Christ. These groups are where discipleship, carrying each other’s burdens, hospitality, and deeper study of God’s Word happens; where loving God and loving neighbor move into action.
We call them Table Groups because we often meet around tables and share meals together. We model this after Jesus’ own actions. In Matt 11 and Luke 7 scripture describes that “The Son of Man came eating and drinking”. Jesus is frequently sharing meals with His disciples, as well as, sinners that He is calling to repentance.
Tim Chester writes in a book titled A Meal with Jesus –
“Food matters. Meals matter. Meals are full of significance. ‘Few acts are more expressive of companionship than the shared meal. . . . Someone with whom we share food is likely to be our friend, or well on the way to becoming one’” (9-10).
The word companion is translated as “bread together” and, let’s be honest, who doesn’t like eating bread with friends. Even better when the conversation is about the bread of life.
You don’t have to be perfect to join these groups. Figuring out what you believe, come ask questions. A long time follower of Christ, get deeper into His Word. Somewhere in-between, we would love to have you join us in one of our groups!
