Grace Baptist Church is striving to be a Pastor/Elder-led, Deacon-served, Congregational church. Under the authority of Jesus Christ and the Word of God, the membership of the Church is the final authority within this local Church. This authority is exercised through the leadership of officers—Elders/Pastors to lead the church, and Deacons to serve the church. The purpose of the leaders is to lovingly govern/lead, care for, and equip the Membership to do the work of the ministry. The overall leadership of Grace is vested in the Elders, who are responsible for governing Grace, teaching the Word of God, and tending the flock of God at Grace. Deacons assist the Elders in providing leadership to Grace’s various ministries and performing services of counsel, administration, and implementation.
We hold to the following formative passages in developing the above stance: Matthew 16:18; Acts 9:4; 20:28; Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4,11-12; 5:20-30; Colossians 1:18-24; 3:15; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 12:4-27; Luke 24:46-48; Revelation 5:9.
In cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia churches, we cooperate by gospel-driven missions, educational resources, and prayer for partnering churches.
